THALALOLWAZI MSUTU

Thalalolwazi (Thala) Msutu is a lecturer in the Department of Mercantile Law, joining the Stellenbosch University Faculty of Law in 2019. He completed his BComm Law, LLB and LLM (Masters in Law) degrees at Stellenbosch University in 2014, 2016 and 2020 respectively. Thala was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of the Republic of South Africa after completing his articles in 2019. During his articles, he was one of the contributing editors of the Butterworths Law Reports in Competition Law for 2017 and 2018. In 2021, Thala was appointed as the first Regional Chair of the Academic Society for Competition Law Southern and East Africa Regional Chapter and as the first Mary Kay Kane Fellow for the International Association of Law Schools. His research and teaching interests include competition law, company law and insolvency law.

LINDANI MHLANGA

DOCTRINAL STUDY GROUPS FELLOW

Lindani holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Laws (Hons), and a Master of Laws from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. Lindani, a final-year PhD student at South Africa’s University of Free State, has recently produced a thesis titled “To Remain,” which explores the sustained tension between property rights interests and non-right property interests in post-apartheid South Africa. This thesis is currently being reviewed. Lindani is presently looking for opportunities with a primary interest on international non-governmental projects, post-doctoral scholarships, and other similar opportunities.
